Are people from Texas generally nice, or are they really as arrogant as the other 49 states claim?

My Neighbor lived in Texas for 25+ years until she moved back to NJ to take over her family business.





She's constantly badmouthing people from NJ and NY saying how rude they are, how white trash they are, and how they have no class, and has nothing positive to say about us Northerners. She accuses us of doing EXACTELY what she is doing herself. As a matter of fact, I think she is much ruder to us than any of us from NJ are to her! I've also met other people from Texas and they generally follow that same arrogant pattern.





I have friends that live in Colorado and Utah that say they get tourists and visitors from Texas. They tell me they are the most arrogant, ignorant, and rudest people they ever met. i wa told they act like they are better than everyone else.





Yet, people from Texas claim them Texans are the nicest, open-minded and accepting people.





Do you agree with mine and friends' obervations or are those people just bad representatives of Texas?

There are nice people and mean/stupid/arrogant people from every state --certainly plenty of both in NJ. However, I have met some pretty arrogant people from TX who seem to think everything is better there. All I can say is I have been to TX and have no desire to go back (except Austin).
Reply:The folks in Texas are just like everywhere else,I've worked there in the oil patch,people was friendly to me.Mexacins don't have much to do with you but who needs them anyway.You will get along alright down there,and remember the Alimo and a group of volunteers from Tennessee led by Davy Crockett,they gave there lifes for this country for nothing,we've lost the battle,they call it immigration.

Reply:Bad representatives, although we do have our share of people here who think anything non-texan is crap. But, you have those people everywhere (met several people from California who believe that). All you can do is smile and move on.
Reply:you really can't say. Texas is enormous. People in Lubbock are aliens to people in Houston.
Reply:Definitely bad representatives... I don't think that rude, arrogant, and ignorant people are limited to one state -- they are everywhere. Just avoid them, and start with your neighbor!
