To people of color.?

I'm going to start this off with i'm a white guy I grew up outside Toronto. My first friend was black we were friends until high school then he started hanging out with other black people and me with other white people. I've had a few black friends in the military. had a asian roommate in korea got along great i've been friends with just about every race on the planet. my question is this when you people of colour met white people are you thinking is this guy rasist? when I meet coloured people I wonder is this person thinking am I rasist it causes tension. what do people think about this?

To people of color.?
im a native american and yes when i meet a person of a different race i do wonder if the are prejudice, but i wonder this about all races. I have met people from all races who are rasist. I for one love all races and all people untill the show me they dont care for my color. even then i dont hate them.i say a prayer for them then go on my way.
Reply:It's funny how "the people of color"term is used by a white guy!!!You know what, you ain't that special,we all think the same!!!In Asain, almost all asains call anybody that's not asain people of color! Report It

Reply:Im asain and I live there for so long and I know! The older generation asians actually think white ppl are white ghosts and overly-simple-minded ppl that's uncivilized and black ppl and ppl of other color as savages and ground-workers! Report It

Reply:Im telling you this not to cause any tension but to tell u that we're all the same! And in some cases we all think negatively of the other race before knowing them!So ur nothing special! We all think the same way as u do!But u should know better, from such a culturally diverse background u came from!!! Report It

Reply:Unless ur a low-class redneck person, uneducated and uncivilized!!!(peasant)You would be in the same level as those asains I've mentioned before if u think the same way sa they do! Report It

Reply:I forgot to mention hairy beast and phanthom nose for white folks! My bad~ Report It

Reply:The thing is just to forget race altogether. I know that's what everyone says, but that's the only answer. Three of my husband's brothers are black. When I first began dating him, I was very tense around them for no apparent reason. I tried so hard to let them know I was not racist. After a while, I just gave up. They crack jokes about their race all the time. Just be normal, which is easy to do if you are truly friends with them and they are truly friends with you.
Reply:i try not to judge but sometimes comments people make get me to wondering if there is a bit of racism hiding behind those eyes...but for the most part i get along with the vast majority of people i come in contact...no matter what color...
Reply:Sounds like it's you, you're the one with the racial thoughts, you're preoccupied with it. When you meet someone do you think, "gee are they in the nation of Islam" or "I think they may be mormon" or even "so, you have a vagina". It's all just dumb, get over it.
Reply:People of color?I haven't heard this for forty years.
Reply:I'm black and I don't think about people being racist or disapproving in any way because I don't base my sense of self on the opinions of others.

Everyone has their own dream of how a person should behave, dress, look and think. As long as I accept myself, their opinions doesn't matter. It's just their dream. It doesn't make it the truth. It's only their truth.
Reply:Forget colour.Just look at someone as a human being.I am sure U don't mind colour.I am Indian but when I meet whites,I don't wonder if they are racist or not coz I believe all human beings are equal and none is superior or inferior. If they are racist,I just ignore(Though I have never confronted such a situation).I am sure most of us do the same.
Reply:I evaluate each person for who they are, no matter what color they are. I've learned there are crazy black people, white people, asian people. You name it. So I generally reserve my judgment of a person until I know them. By the way, I am a black man.
Reply:First of all, plz dont say "you people" to black people, they HATE it! Most ppl dont just going around assuming ppl are racist unless you are wearing a big rebel flag, most ppl are as cool to you as you are to them.
Reply:i am first nations...and i don't look at white people right away as racist people. but i watch em n i wonder how it is to be white...wonder how their childhood was growing up. iw onder what it is that they know about being a visible miinority. in large crowds of white people i tend to feel a bit edgey...though i believe this be due to my own upbringing on a reservation...you don't really see that many white people lol. its all about conditioning i guess. i wasn't raised withthe idea that all white people are racist.
Reply:When I meet another person of any kind of color ( Iam Black ) Iam not thinking of anything racist at all. The frist thing I would like to know is who they are and if our personality will click so that we can become friends. Color doesn't have to do with anything as long as the person is not talking crap about me in front of me or behind my back. Of course people may think that maybe someone that is not black or another color is thinking racist thoughts but you can't help that. That's human nature. ( hope I made sense)
Reply:my color is white, i dont think your a racist. i think people are people lets love one a nother
Reply:my color is grey.

and unless you're a skinhead, and have a swastica, and just blow us off like we aren't there, or like you're afraid of us, or your suspcious, we don't think you're racist.

and don't use that term 'colored' most people, myself included, find that degrading, because unless you're clear, you've got a color. (well even then you have a color, don't you?)
Reply:There are people who make assumptions in every race. My parents are Bi-racial, (My Mom is from Quebec). I don't think white or black, I respond to a persons character not color. If there is tension, then there must be some underlying issues.
Reply:As a black woman, let me explain a few things. 1. Lighten up.

2. The use of the phrase "People of color" is a little "out dated."

3. When I meet a person, white, black, asian... I judge them by their character.

I am not giving thought to the person's race. If we are holding a conversation, then the odds of you being a racist is slim. Don't put people in a box.
Reply:as a person of color...I have always considers a person's character first...there are so many negative views that we as a society place on one another...many people of color think the same thing, when meeting someone of a different color,creed,religion....My point is that if we let things like this cause tension, when meeting anyone different than ourselves...we may lose something that can be a life time friendship... a few of my best friends are not of the same race as I am, I think(know) that my life would be a little empty without these special people. Also my 16 year old son best friend is of another color...they both started hang with their own race more as they got older...as for my daughter we call her and her friends the rainbow tribe...I think people are more socially rounded, when we step outside of what the world view as normal...WE AS HUMANS MUST GET OVER THE RACIAL TENSIONS AND VIBES AND LOVE EACH OTHER...WHAT WOULD JESUS THINK OR DO IN THE SAME SITUATION?
Reply:I am black but you i understand what you feel like you are not racial
Reply:BEFORE I ANWER,WHY DO U CALL BLACKS "PEOPLE OF COLOR", ARE U TRYING TO MEAN THAT "WHITES "DONT HAVE COLOUR?

ANY WAYS, I DONT JUDGE PEOPLE BY COLOUR BUT BY THEIR CONDUCT. IF A WHITE GIEVES ME AREASON TO CALL HIM/HER A RACIST, THEN LET IT BE SO.

(BUT HOW WOULD YOU FELL WHEN U GO TO A ZOO WITH ONLY LEAPARDS,VARIETY IS ALWAYS BETTER)
Reply:im African American... no, when i meet someone who is white, i dont automatically think "r u racist?" nor do i assume that they r racist. alot of times when u hit high school, people pressure u to hang out with people of the same color. its sad, but true. its not really about racism, but what society and ur peers dictate as "right".
Reply:Well, as a Chinese, I can tell you that yes we are different, but yes we are still equal. Just sometime it really drive me furious while some people being racist toward me. As long as you are nice to people, they won't have a negative impact of you
