People like YOU are the cause of the problem...?

I see people type that phrase quite a bit on a variety of questions. Another one is 'Leave _____ alone!' Do people really believe that questioning things in the world and typing inconsequential posts on the internet causes ANYTHING!?


Why do people make such ridiculous comments? Is it just the herd mentality trying to assert itself? Seems like some people simply can't stand to hear ideas they don't like. You know what? Sombody making a comment about some celebrity doesn't hurt that celebrity! Somebody talking about Iraq doesn't get soldiers killed! Somebody talking about the Patriot Act doesn't cause terrorist attacks! Talking about Hummers doesn't cause global warming! Is it simply that dumb people can't come up with a reasoned, thoughtful response so they launch stupid accusations? I'm genuinely curious...

Reply:I think I see your point, and in the examples you have provided, I can agree with you to some extent, but, as a mental health professional with 20+ years experience, now retired, I also have to add that words DO impact others, whether it's on the internet or at school or work, and it's not out of the question that the words you put on the internet WILL effect someone on the other side of the world. Maybe not immediately, or that can be traced, but the impact is there, sometimes, whether it be political issues or military ones or just seemingly useless comments about someone else, such as a celebrity. Words DO impact others. You can be sure of that, whether you can trace the pattern or not. Not every word, but, words in general. God Bless you.
Reply:Exactly..few people dont like to hear ideas they dont like , so what do they do, the rub you the other way around..by starting to make silly commentaries...so for us who can discern things better shouldnt be emphatic about this kind of people, they would think they are so important to talk about and worst if they read such observations they come judging you with stupid reasons...well, we cant control peoples' minds and they will just blurt out opinions which you can label accusations........this is how it is here......while many can decipher things, many can misinterpret and misunderstand you as well....we just talk talk talk but we dont do really anyhting..that is the sad part....hope this enlightens the rest anyway.........good luck!!!
