Why are people racist?

Yes, like some of you I've just read the post 'I could never date a black woman'. What confuses me is why people act like this, is it fear, hostility, the fact that they feel threatened by another human being?


I pity those people who are racist, are they not happy in oneself they have to attack back at other people? And let me point this out, not all white people are racist black people are too. Are we that immature as a species that we can't put our differences aside but have to fight back at others like the animals we all are. We have natural human instincts, for example how we react when we feel threated, are in fear, or in danger. We've been on this Earth for x amount of years and we still haven't learned one important factor of our lives, forgiveness. Can we not grasp the concept of this idea? Are we that stupid?


Why should the colour of our skin determine who we are? It's embedded in some people's minds that they are superior to other people because of our race, but why?

Why are people racist?
I have been asking questions about race and relationships the last few days and I wish I could answer your questions, but all I have is an opinion. I feel most racism comes from fear and ignorance. Some people are afraid to associate with other races because they do not understand their culture. This ignorance and fear eventually turn to hate, and i don't really understand why. If you have the time please look at some of my questions and the answers to them. You will be both encouraged with development of society and at the same time disgusted with the lack thereof. Reply:Ppl r racist because there ppl who brought dem up taught dem that. my own momma is racist, but me i love everybody as long as dey don't get on my mutha.f.u.k.k.i.n. nerves. man, i would defintely date a white guy, or eny guy i like. ppl who r racist don't even know dat they've been brainwashed. my momma would (still does) say bad things about other people of color and when i was little i would agree, but den 1 day i thought about it and realized it's da whole brainwashing
Reply:Its because they stupid and ignorant people, some people are afraid to try something new, especially if they think they may like it and their friends and family may disown them for it, its also insecurity and stereotyping, all in all people like that are dumb asses who need an *** whooping.

people have a SLIGHT tendency to like people who are similar to them or very different. (there are genetic (evolutionary) reasons for this--read 'the selfish gene)


but nobody is born racist--it is learned--generally speaking

racism is a form of tribalism, patriotism and familism (AND NOBODY EVER CRITICIZES THE LAST TWO)
