Why do some people give their money to the 700 club?

And other groups like them. I'm sure most people do not fall for it, but given the list of things below...there are better groups to donate money to.

A lot of the money given to them to 'help' people undoubtedly also goes to...

The nice big fancy set and studio

The hosts most likely do not do the show for free

Nice fancy tv and video graphics

Multiple expensive studio cameras

People who run the cameras

Lots of lighting

Makeup and makeup people

Wardrobe and wardrobe people

Furniture they sit on and all other things on and for the set

More then likely a control room

More then likely editing people for each show

People who plan each episode

People who write their dialogue

Transportation costs when they show segments outside the studio

All the free books, DVDs, brochures, and other things they give away...these can't be all made for free!

Big contest prizes, like the exercise thing I saw a time or two on there

Shipping costs to send the free things

Why do some people give their money to the 700 club?
Because people are often foolish with their $$
Reply:To help feed hungry people, pay for operations for poor people and help out after natural disasters. Report It

Reply:There are a lot worse places they could give there money to.

1. DNC

2. Any other Liberal Org.

3. Hitlerey campaing.

4. Finkenstine of frisco campain

5. Give to Global whinning

Lots of things that are far FAR worse than the 700 club Not that they are realy worth give a dime to.
Reply:What the 700 Club and other organizations do is work for God. And Christians give money or contribute a little so that God's Word maybe spread to the nations.
Reply:I like your question. I do not support Pat Robertson. Neither do I judge people that do. It is my choice how I give and who I give to. I have friends that support him. They see things differently than I do. I think I would rather try to help someone who is struggling right near me than send the little bit I am able to give to a giant ministry. The 700 Club has done some things that I do appreciate like the law school and the support of people like Jay Seckulow who represents the ACLJ which opposes the ACLU in the courtroom . American Center for Law and Justice vs. the American Civil Liberties Union. We are each free to give to the groups we choose to support. I think just loving people comes first. Prayer comes second. Then God leads us and equips us for our purpose and contribution in the form of spiritual gifts. I believe that we are responsible individually for the gifts and talents God has given us. Whatever my talent or gift I am responsible to develop it and use it to do good in the world. My gifts and talents are things that I feel passionate about so that when I do something I can do it with all my heart. I can't be to busy deciding whether what Pat is doing is the best use of his talents. He is responsible before God and not me . Or to put it another way sometimes it's better to "tend my own garden."

Lots of love,

Do your best with what God has given you.

Cathy out.
Reply:A friend of my grandmother's gave everything to one of these televangelists because she was old and sick and he convinced the people watching they wouldn't go to heaven if they didn't give every penney they could. That woman was living on social security and eating cat food to buy that pig a mansion. That was years ago and it still makes me ill. Did anyone read in the bible where it told preachers to take everything from the poor and for them to become rich in the process? No, it doesn't. Sure, people fed the diciples, gave them a place to stay, but they sure weren't in it for the money. Look at the televangelists, they're wearing very costly suits, riding in limo's!

So no, the people they're conning aren't stupid, they're old, sick, alone and scared. Instead of making fun of them and calling them names, it might help if you guys could pray for them, maybe get the word around that these televangelists are nothing but con men.

Lizardmama, completely with you on that one! I watched a documentary about those doctors, one of the doctors without borders shows, and they did help those poor kids in ways people here couldn't possibly understand. Amazing how many kids in underpriviledged nations need so much help we take for granted. I believe if you go to "doctors without borders" you can donate there, without any administration fees.
Reply:Low IQ? Spiritually asleep? Trying to buy their way into Heaven? Very Christian but still falling prey to star worship? I will NEVER understand and ALWAYS be afraid of people who could just SEE Tammy Faye Baker and her husband, Jim, and not KNOW.
Reply:Pat Robertson is a lawyer by education, and is a billionaire.

Anyone who sends him money is a fool. No, make that FOOL.
Reply:There is a suckers born every minute, and that is enough suckers to keep these institutions going.
Reply:Uh...could stupidity have anything to do with it?
Reply:They have a great marketing staff. and know how to work the peopkle to send them money.
Reply:Misguided at best, stupidity and or wanton disregard for the obvious.
Reply:They have a specific program that I support. I do not support their general funds, but they provide surgeries to people in third world countries who need correction for cleft lip and cleft palate. In many of these countries, a facial deformity is equivalent to death. Children are ocassionally left by the side of the road to die. Those who are allowed to live will never go to school, never have friends, never have a job, and never be married. A $400 surgery literally buys them back their lives and corrects a health, speech, and eating disorder at the same time. In most of those societies, $400 is more money than they could save in a lifetime of work. I can't imagine someone telling me that my child's life is not worth $400. I love giving to that particular program, but I do not give to their general fund.
