A black girl recently told me about how "my people" enslaved her people and then gave me a history lesson all the terrible things white people did to black people during the civil rights era. she said affirmative action doesn't make up for what white people did to her people, but it is a start. surprised? of course not. but the problem i have is that she was from the Dominican Republic. Now, should I really feel bad for slavery, considering my decendants hadn't even arrived in America during the slave days...nor had hers. in fact, her mother came here in the mid 1970s, long after the civil rights movement. seriously, am i supposed to go apologize to every black person in the US, Jamaica, DR, Haiti, Ghana, Liberia, Senegal, etc. fact is, my family came here in the early 1900s and have lived in PA ever since, nor were they involved in the kkk or any other group black people think every white person is a member of. so why do i get the race card tossed at me...even from immigrants?!?
Have black people used the race card enough?
Race card is usually played by those who lack the skill/ability, intelligence, and morality to do what is fair and honest but most of all it's a form of petty racism, "where you become a racist for disagreeing with me for my racism". They have no other argument than to say if you disagree with me you're a racist. They don't have the ability to do research to support their argument, they don't have the intelligence to post the evidence to support their stance, and they lack the morality to say if it's evil or wrong whether they committed the act or not that good must triumph even if it's inconvenient.
A good example of the race card being played is happening in Tennessee. Black racism is being displayed in Tennessee about the carjacking, kidnapping, raping (both persons), torturing, humiliating (urinating on the victims), sexual torture (removing a woman's breast and a man's penis while they were alive), burning, and killing a White couple by 5 Black thugs (Link 1). To make it worse they're throwing a party and celebrating such behaviors and those who commit such crimes (Link 2) which is the example of playing the Black race card. Is this pathetic or what?
Reply:We are entitlement to the race card until we get reperations from slavery. Then we might quit but it all the white mans fault that for sure.
Reply:One, you're an immigrant too.
Two, she's right.
Three, the fact that her people are from the Dominican Republic is an indicator that her family has indeed suffered racism, as slaves were taken there just as they were brought to the US.
Edit:
Deshawn-
I take karate, so I get enough exercise. And I wasn't whining about racism. Talk about someone who needs to shut his piehole! I was addressing the asker's comment about the girl being an "immigrant" specifically rather than waxing on about racism in general.
Reply:Yes. Everyone need to grow up and realize what year we're living in.
Reply:It's a generalization that all white people are racist against blacks or their family members were at some point in time. Didn't know it was going out the the immigrants....
Just ignore it. It doesn't even make logical sense in your case......
Reply:save your semphony for the Choctaw s
Reply:lol 2p !!
Reply:all whites benefit indirectly from what those whites did to the natives and the slaves back then. you shouldn't feel responsible for slavery but if you don't feel 'bad' about slavery, then you are a racist in the 3rd degree and the world can do without you.
and we all came off the boat except the natives.
Reply:What utter nonsense from Green Grasshopper. You really should shut your pie hole and stop whining about racism and slavery. Every race has been enslaved at one time or another, but only American blacks keep using it as an excuse for their failures. And btw, you're never going to lose weight unless you step away from the keyboard and get some exercise, LOL...
Reply:Very good question. The answer is, YES they have used it enough and they will continue to do so. And most people who use it have no link whatsoever to slavery here in America with their ancestors. Sad but true, however it just confims their ignorance and their love to feel like a victim.
Reply:One person gave you an irrelevant lecture, therefore all blacks have "used the race card enough"?
Read on this site for a while.
I've seen people post that they throw things at black kids for recreation, that all blacks should be deported, that they should be reenslaved (yes, white people should own black people), and that they should be killed.
Dozens, possibly hundreds of people here believe these sorts of things.
And DWB is still a "crime" in much of this country (Driving While Black -- where you're pulled over by police and you and your car searched, without probable cause).
Major corporations have recently been taken to court for refusing to deal with blacks.
Many are still denied housing and jobs because of their race.
In other words, hate towards blacks is NOT dead and gone. Nor is racism.
Reply:first of all not all blacks use the race card(i know you didnt yes it but i just want to put it out there because a lot of people believes that every black does).
Second of all, black people has used the race card enough, but i don't think its going to go away anytime soon.
When it comes to immigrants I'm not sure why they also use the race card. It could just be something to say so someone can feel bad for them. Or some that comes from Africa still have a problem with family being taken away to America to become slaves. But that is really a big guess from me.
when it comes to blacks in american, black get it from their parents. They have to listen to it growing and are made to believe it. So they don't know any better. They can't see past the very small world they are living in.
Trust me i hate just as much you when a black toss the race card in a white persons face. As a 22 year old black female, i KNOW that my 23 year old white male boyfriend had NOTHING to do with "my people" being enslaved.
As long as blacks believe that a company will hire a white over black, or a white working at a bank and turns them down for a loan...or what ever other reasons are out there, the race card is going to be used.
Its going take time. try to get to know a black or two, they are not all bad.
Reply:Wow really good question. I think the race card will always be played. And many other groups of people have had tragedies happen to them, but they don't keep using that as an excuse. I understand that it's a part of their history, but enslavement wasn't just the whites. I didn't know Dominicans were slaves.
Reply:Yes and EVERYONE is sick of it! Down here near Mexico, the immigrants know poverty unlike Americans. They have zero sympathy for blacks. I live across the street from a Mexican market and everyone once in a while a black decides to park their fat asss on the sidewalk and beg for money. Bad idea! Mexicans are very hard working and don't believe in giving money away to a worthless bum. Needless to say; they are gone and never come back. After a few hours of begging (instead of looking for work), they leave with the 2 pennies they made. No nation in HISTORY has ever given black the opportunities to make up for past wrongs yet blacks still sit in their dirty diapers waiting for someone ELSE to change them. I never give them on penny and bark at them if they 'ax' for spare change. I have no need for them or their race card.
Reply:Yup.
