Why are people so eager to believe horrible things about Jewish people? I mean, I know some people are prone to believing such things about anyone, but it appears especially common for people to believe non-Jews telling lies about Judaism.
why would it be SO especially common? for so many people it seems massively more difficult for them to believe the truth, than the sometimes absurdly outrageous lies from people who sometimes have never even met a jewish person.
and I am not even referring to political stuff relating to israel where theoretically points of view could be different or whatever. I mean things like what Judaism teaches and what Jewish people think about things.
Why are people so eager to...?
I have no ill entention,s toward and Jew or anyone else
we are all the children of God,I,m a child of God and a Jew

Reply:L'chaim makes a crucial point. It is staggering, frankly, how much Jews are maligned in the 'new' testament. Not that this justifies racism but it explains some of the more bizarre ideas people have about us!
I would also ask why people are so eager to believe the most terrible things about Israel. Every day, people who have NEVER set foot on Israeli soil, confidently claim that things are happening when having lived there, I know full well they are not!

Reply:Have you read their book, the New Testament? How can a book claiming divine authorship be so blatantly anti-Semitic?
.
Reply:The sad fact is that everyone has prejudices of some kind. Some are more public than others, and some are more discriminatory towards their fellow man.
Reply:people are eager to believe the worst about ANYONE.
Reply:Hello?! You are talking about ppl.
Reply:I am not Jewish but I find it pretty frightening. Those of us who know anything of history know about the anti Semitism of the past, the Spanish Inquisition being one of the most horrifying examples, until Hitler that is.
I think that maybe people were influenced by the idea of the Jewish moneylender, Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice being a prime example. Shakespeare has a lot to answer for, it is almost entirely due to his 'Richard lll' that this king was so villified.
There is certainly evidence of anti Semitism in the UK during the Thirties but I do believe that when the horrors of the Holocaust became known most people were determined that an outrage like this would never happen again. Hence the State of Israel.
The boundaries of Israel, which has affected the Palestinians, is not the fault of the Israelis but they cannot be blamed for defending what was given to them.
If ever there is another Holocaust, it will not be the Jews that suffer, it could be you! Think about that one!
Reply:People's hearts are hardened. As we draw closer to the time of Jesus' return to earth, more and more will turn against the Jewish people and all of this is written in the prophecies. Judiaism is the root of our Christian faith and people tend not to see that and it is very sad, since we as Gentiles were adopted into the family of God, which that family was originally the Jews. In the prophecies it speaks of God's chosen (Israel) and how they have turned away from God and not honored Him and so things will get worse. If you read prophecy, you will see this happening now, but wonderful things will happen in the future for them as well as us..as long as we are not led astray.
Reply:Sad as it is people just assume the worst about things they have no idea about. I remember as a child hearing that Jewish people had horns. I had to go and check my uncle for that and was relieved to find nothing! lol people also think badly of jews because the chritsian religon teaches that the jews killed christ. what a load of rubbish.
Reply:My friend, it is not a race thing or a religion thing....it is a self esteem / ego thing.
Alot of egomaniacs with inferiority complexes running around and enable to make themselves feel "one up on..." for lack of a better phrase, they take on the attitude of judgement and hate....
Sad but true...

Reply:People from the Mid East have been painted as contrary since forever and they don't seem to be able to get along. I used to wonder why South Americans where always having revolutions until I started reading everywhere that the CIA had been supporting the overthrow of this government or that. Growing up I always knew the government was heavily into propaganda, but I grew up with it so it seemed normal. Propaganda was something that was bad in countries that were bad and had dictators. I didn't think we had a dictator in the US. Maybe we are getting a distorted picture of the Mid East or are not getting good accurate reports. Could that be a factor? We know that news from there is heavily censured and maybe we are stimulating some of the unrest because 'they' are sitting on a lot of oil. Maybe the rest of the world doesn't see it the way we do because we mostly see our main stream media while news from Europe is different from ours. It seems to be, in subtle ways sometimes. Yet it also seems strange to me that England has just gotten a labor union supported labor government and is still enacting more and more archane, tyrannical legislation, from what I'm seeing. Are we manipulated? Divid and conquer would certainly not be to our benefit. Even the religions are in bed with power and both are controlled by money, anymore. You don't hear much from economically poor Christians, only the spiritually poor ones. My opinion, of course, from the info I'm sitting on. Oh, did you note the idea in the news that oil hasn't gone up, the dollar has gone down 350 percent while the euro had only gone down 200 percent. Could oil prices affect your opinion? If you think that you owe six thousand in credit cards, please add 165 thousand, as we owe the national debt and it will be taken out of you in inflation, taxes and hidden taxes until you scream for mercy and so that you will never get out of debt or be prosperous. Someones sadistic? I always wondered why I only got part way around the corner only to be dragged back. These things make people lose their tolerance and to look for villians other than themselves, other than their friends and the benevolent five owners of the TV. Do you think they want the blame? It's frankly a hot potato that no one wants. How about we just deal with it in ourselves. That's what Christianity is all about and our attitude will have a viral affect, mutating into, dare I say it, incurable strains of love. Idealistic? Well, when that is the only thing that will really work, what would you suggest? Cynicism? The Christian view should be a bit different. Love and the wisdom to know how to work it. Here's an easy answer: Listen to the still small voice of the spirit and the mind of Christ, which is in you. 2 Cor 2:16 ” But we do have the mind of Christ."
