An action is something people do together to make people pay attention to a problem. We have a problem here at Yahoo answers. It is a person who uses various names including Cheeecakefries. His questions always include the word unnice and describe people without disabilities as normal. It they are normal - than what are people with disabilities?
The only way to get Yahoo to pay attention to this problem is to report every question that is asked using the word normal to describe people with disabilities as offensive. If we all use the same phrase maybe it will get Yahoo's attention.
Are you willing to join me and report each unnice/normal question to Yahoo by simply stating -
This question is offensive to people with disabilities
People with Disabilities Action?
I do already do this. My mom too. We don't like these mean, ugly questions.
Reply:Please....
Reply:I have reported his questions too many times to mention. Sometimes they are removed, more often not. I don't think Yahoo Answers moderation is based in the US and so their value system is not always the same as mine. Watch and see that anything remotely offensive posted regarding India is removed almost instantly.
There is a woman called Isotope who tried to get the word retarded to be banned just like other offensive words like N-G--R. She was promised it would be, but it never was. I ALMOST find that more pressing than this man. But I am sure that is a much bigger task to accomplish.
Lillardlane you are new here, and you too will tire of this essentially same question he asks over and over and over 2 or 3 times a week every week. This is not about political correctness - it is about respect. Cheesecakefries, et al has no respect for himself or others with disabilities. He will tire of this after awhile or be banned and will re emerge with a new name.
That is why the focus must not be on Cheesecakefries, but instead on his two word platform issue - Unnice %26amp; Normal.
Reply:Don't go by what all people think who have disabilities. They have their own mind and should have a say on this. However, I do find his remarks offensive. I consider myself to be a normal person. So, yes, I will report it.
Reply:I think that this person is using the word normal to mean normal health for their age. When my son was diagnosed with extreme high blood pressure and his Internist said, "it is not normal for a 19 year old teenager to have such jigh blood pressure and your son will have to go on high blood pressure medicine." Well, I did not become offended. Normal teenagers have normal good health. A Disability is an abnormal condition and is considered abnormal. A normal brain does not have a brain tumor. I refuse to allow you or anyone else to police and monitor my vocabulary. I think you need a Vocabulary couse and if you are offended by the words normal versus abnormal, I do not know how you have a normal conversation with a nurse or a doctor. This is America and we have freedom of speech. I am tired of politically correct lectures. Let us move on to a new topic. Good day!
