Why don't people take the threat of terrorism seriously?

Many people think that people like Osama Bin Laden and Ayman Al-Zawahiri are a joke and should be treated like a joke. If you type Osama Bin Laden in Ask.com images, or whatever search engine you use, you will probably find many stupid images of people drawing on his face with blood or some other thing. Why do people seem to think that these people are just jokes? Is it simply because people are unwilling to accept that there are other forces in the world that can take the USA? Is it because people don't want to recognize a threat? Kind of like before a major natural disaster, people deny the the threat until it arrives?

I agree! The biggest problem is the TV. It has made people insensitive to what is really going on in the world. When I lived in NY I worked in a private school and the fire dept next door was burying one of their finest who gave his life in 911. I told the principal that the students should go out and line the street and salute as the hearse went by. The principal asked why and I said "so that they don't think this is just another TV show where people die and then in the next movie they are alive again or talking about it on Oprah". This REALLY HAPPENED!!! People, lots of people REALLY DIED!!! Buildings, Planes and lots of other stuff was destroyed. It happened in real life!


That is why people can so easily take their focus off of what our military is doing over in Iraq and turn their focus back to social issues...it just isn't real to most folks ...its just another show...NOT!!!


People have been programmed not to live in reality. UGH! God help us all to wake up!
Reply:I don't worry about things that are out of my control. All I can do is hope that our government does its best job to protect us from these threats.
Reply:I don't think people find Osama Bin Laden or Ayman Al-Zawahiri funny, especially the USA. We have boys dying over there because we do not think they are funny. As for taking over the USA? No way. Speaking strategically, we are too big, perfectly positioned, we have Canada to the North (vast and mostly unpopulated), Mexico to the south (vast and economically less than ideal), the only true threat to Americans is the IRS and the banks (but if we pay our bills on time we have nothing to worry about), and you forget the fact that the majority of Americans carry guns. I would love to see an enemy force try to drop out of the sky! That would be funny! Every good NRA member on the block would be out side with their shotguns blowing people out of the sky. They would be dead before they ever hit the ground. This is not Europe my friend. In Europe, very different economic situation and the boundaries are very close together and almost all of them have an Army. Don't get me wrong, terrorism is a serious business, and Americans are strong enough to deal with it.

acts.and also these things are supposed to to come to pass because the bible has told us that these things must come to pass before jesus comes to get his children. all read the bible

Reply:Likely because the government of the USA has not taken it seriously. They go to Iraq when the guy is in Pakistan and then waste money keeping Chinese and other out of the country on visitor visa's or study visas.


If your really worried move to a safer country...

You can't sit around and worry yourself to death over something that might happen.
Reply:I know terrorism is alive and well, I live in NYC and I don't think I can ever forget the fall of the twin towers. I ride the subway every day and have to give up to God and let a higher power be in charge because if I didn't I would walk in fear only, while joy would be on the outskirts of my life.


I am keenly aware that our SuperPower - Ism is a thing of the past so, what ever will be, will be.


I am gonna live my and let God carry that burden of thinking about Osama and the terror crew, because I want to enjoy life.

The entertainment biz %26amp; the current trend doesn't spell "terrorism". well, i can only think of the black eye peas with one song. %26amp; it became a karaoke with ppl siging it without knowing the real meaning. its like drinking a bowl of soup and not knowing how its being cooked.





like 'peace' for example.





c'mon, they make fun out of 'peace' even.

Reply:idk but you make a good point. people need to be more alert about this. it also bothers me when people want to join the war just cuz a video game with the graphics.or just to kill people . you should only join if you really want to fight to protect us.

They eventually expect the terrorism in the states to be a "normal" way of life.


They expect them to invade our land at some point.


They always say: "When they get here...." Not "If they get here..."


There is no doubt, the service people I speak to "EXPECT" the US to be invaded.
