Why don't people take responsibility for their actions anymore?

I meet people every day who have made mistakes, then they try to take the easy way out - they don't seem to care who they hurt in the process, and don't seem to get the fact that what's easy now isn't always the easiest in the long run.

People wanting to have $ex and needing to know how to do it without getting pregnant, people trying to get out of tickets, people trying to pass drug tests even though they're using....these are just a few examples of things I see from people I've met, and from people who post question here.

Am I the only one who sees a decline in people taking responsibility for their actions? What's so wrong with thinking that people shouldn't be doing something if they're not willing to live with the consequences of their actions??

I'm not looking for people to name-call or insult me. If you don't agree with me, just tell me why you think it's okay to do somehting when you're not willing to live with the consequences of your actions.

Why don't people take responsibility for their actions anymore?
I agree with you. Society is crumbling and it seems acceptable to cry and whine and carry on.

Lack of responsibility is high on the agenda and disciplining children low on the agenda.

I'm tired of the constant BS....suing people seems to be the norm nowadays and we have to watch what we say or we're labelled something nasty....

Ugh! When will it all end? Probably only after we've managed to wipe ourselves out!

Okay, that's my "happy" thought for the day! ha!
Reply:Society has taught people that nothing is their fault. Most people have believed this lie because it is easy to believe it.
Reply:There is nothing wrong with wanting to have sex without getting pregnant, and I think everyone knows how to do that. Why do I think this? Having sex, when the two people are adults and the sex is consentual, is enjoyable, and hurts no one.

I think people should take responsibility for their actions, but I can certainly understand someone wanting to get out of a traffic ticket, or wanting to have sex without becoming pregnant.
Reply:People do not have the morals that they should have. A lot of people only care about themselves and they need to grow up.
Reply:I would agree with your examples of people not taking responsibility except for the people wanting to know how to be be responsible with not getting pregant before they are ready to have child. It is a major life undertaking and not fair to bring a child into the world unless you really want it and are both able (financially and emotionally) and willing to there for it. To me practicing safe sex and using birth control until you are ready is taking responsibility for your actions. It doesn't seem reasonable to me to expect humans to only have sex when they want a baby. Its part of our nature and a biologically drive is built into us. Its a human need both physically and emotionally to feel connected to others. That doesn't mean we need or want all the children that could potentially be born or more importantly that we have the time and resources to care for them.

As for the other stuff, I think that it has always been part of human nature to look for the easy way. It may or may not be worse now than in the past. I don't know. =)
