For people who are against the war on Iraq....?

For people who are against the war in Iraq, a lot of you say 'I am against the war on Iraq, so many troops have died blah blah blah' but I very rarely see anyone say 'so many Iraqi civilians have been killed' as if its only the troops that are dying where the reality is that Iraqi civilians are also being killed by American/British troops AND Al Qaeda. It seems like people are only concerned about people of their own nation and that if people from another nation die, it doesn't matter.

Also, I think its sickening that anyone would support this war as then they are also supporting the deaths of troops and Iraqis and NOTHING is worth it when peoples' lives are at stake. A lot of people who supporting the war claim to be Christians....well let me remind you that in the bible it says 'thou shall not kill.' It doesn't say 'Thou shall not kill unless in wars' so by supporting the war, you are supporting the deaths of innocent people.

For people who are against the war on Iraq....?
if you want to actually ask a question that sparks a debate and gives you a broad variety of response you may want to read up on Socratic Method and Reasoning and Logic as well as Forensic methodology....(related to speeches)NOT CSI!

good luck with the intellectual development. you have a good heart as you are upset by the senseless death of any sentient being....just try to stay out of the religious whacko cross-fire and you should be fine. They tend not to be so upset by the death of those not like them or otherwise judged "life unworthy of life"
Reply:I hate this war I just want my husband back home! Call my selfish but I could give a Sh1t about Iraq people I just want my husband back and with his kids where he belongs.
Reply:I totally agree with you and a dam good question
Reply:I agree wholeheartedly with your words.
Reply:I have never supported the invasion of Iraq %26amp; yes there is innocent iraqi people being murdered. There lives are as valuable as our soldiers.
Reply:.I agree with you up to a point.what you seem to be talking about is the general American reason for why people are anti war .in England it`s mainly the concern for the needless death and misery of the Iraqis that people care about .

i think the problem is (and there are Americans who care deeply about the Iraqi`s)is that although we always get Americans on here going on about America having more freedom than any other country ,its not strictly true

Any American who speaks up for Iraq on here leaves them self open for insults and abuse and is made out to be a Traitor to their country .this also applies to anyone saying anything about George Bush. I think a lot who do care are afraid to say so public ally

I could go on for hours about the hell this invasion has brought on the Iraqi people .Even if the troops were to withdraw and a way was found to make Iraq secure with a decent government who were democratic and put the country and people first .their suffering still wont stop .Iraq is now contaminated with the hundreds of tons of DU used by the US and .UK Children there are now being born with the most horrific genetic mutation you could imagine .and this will now happen in every generation for centuries to come SOME EXPERTS ARE SAYING THIS COULD GO DOWN AS THE SINGLE WORST CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD ..
Reply:The Bible also says the greatest thing you can do in life is to give your life for a friend. The Allied soldiers are unselfishly giving for their friends, even if they don't know them.

Remember that God knows what is Caesar's and what is His. When the Romans were occupying Jerusalem when Jesus walked the earth, He said to give Caesar what he needs to run the government. He said He did not approve of the government but knows one has to be in place. A government will require soldiers to protect and defend.
Reply:I am amazed at the confusion about the attack on Iraq. The attack was to defend Israel and started by Israeli supporters in the White House.
Reply:People who say they are anti-the-Iraq-war like me give reasons for not liking or supporting the Iraq war. Sometimes, depending on the question, different reasons are given. This does not mean we support other aspects of the war except for that reason given or that the reason given is not valid on its own, it just depends on which person is asking and what type of the numerous reasons for not supporting the war would make the asker question their support.

For instance, an asker whose brother is in the army in Iraq, would be more sympathetic towards a troop withdrawal due to the number already killed there. But at the end of the day you will find that most anti war people want to prevent the unnecessary deaths of Iraqi civilians first and foremost. Period!
Reply:Your question is interesting because it makes me wonder what country you are from.

As a UK citizen I can tell you that the anti-war (Middle East war) movement in this country is based almost exclusively around the very fact that innocent natives die constantly in this war.

We don't have conscription into the army in the UK, thus most people's viewpoints (other than friends/relatives of soldiers) is that our soldiers signed contracts of their own volition and thus knew, to a certain extent, what they were signing up to and now have to fulfil their responsibilities. Of course it IS sad when a troop looses his or her life, but that's not my point.

What countries have an anti-war movement based mostly on how many troops have been killed?
Reply:l yes i am against the war in Iraq, our soldiers in the UK shouldn't have gone to war,but if it did have anything to do with us i mean in the UK,yes our soldiers should defend our country, some of the soldiers who are getting killed are far to young to be sent, yes they know when they sign up for the army, they will after go and fight in a war,but not at the age of 17years old or 18years old, this is far to young, for me the age for soldiers to go to war is 20years plus. Not only soldiers are losing there lives but like you say the innocent people,
Reply:I think most people are against it because of the killing.

Look in the real world. Not La La Land.

Wake up girl
Reply:What is your point? What is your question? I know your trying to say something, I just don't know what it is. This President brought us into a war for his own personal reasons, he lie's to us daily, he has a group of people whose job is to convince the ignorant American people that what they are doing is righteous, and I see It works on you. Every citizen in America support our troops and always will, It's this ignorant President and moron polititians that support this President policy's that eveyone is so much against.
Reply:At the time Bush announced they had stopped bombing, the death toll of civilians was roughly 46, 000, compared with a few hundred soldiers from either side. Daily the number of soldiers is growing but it is still only about 3,000 lives of serving men and women. That is still 40, 000 innocent lives brutalised by weopans of mass destruction by America and Britain. It's a disgrace and no wonder they a pertrified of other countries building weopans as they know fine well who they will be aimed at.

I wonder is they are using the oil secured from an attacked country to bulid more.....
Reply:I am against the war in Iraq, and I do have an interest in how many of Iraq's people have died in the war the number killed from what we get to hear is still rising from 36 thousand that's thousands upon thousands of families life's in tatters then to mention how many have been injured and maimed it is a catastrophe I go on the odd march in London for what its worth now the Not so much Freedom of speech Law has come in to action. I do have concern for the troops too as I have seen some of these boys grow up then chucked into this thankless war. meanwhile i guess i could be doing more to speak up for the people of iraq but being tied up in daily life with my children to bring up all i can do realy is bring them up a gd education and a greater social awareness. Then live in hope that the next generation will be wiser than the last .
Reply:if only the world was that simple!
Reply:It is sad that the Americans quote a figure for the number of Iraqis killed by Saddam but this has been found ( along with the alleged stockpiles of WMD) to be completely false. The Americans found no mass graves and no WMD! But they went on destroying whole Cities (Falluja etc) and their invasion has resulted in the deaths of about 700 000 civilians and the displacement of about

3 000 000 to neighbouring poor countries. What genius!
Reply:Surely you do not believe that Iraq's population is only being killed by US/British and Al queda/. They are also being killed by felloew Iraqi's.

Those killed by allied forces are casualties of war, not directly targeted by the allied forces.

Those killed by Al Queda and fellow Iraqi's are directly targeted by these two groups and form the majority of the present deaths in Iraq.

You can send as many troops and weapons as you like to this corner of the world, the truth is, it is a tribal land which has no intention of ever being peacefull.

The Iraqi people you see on the TV who declare that their country is being ruined by the allied forces are the same people who refused to take up arms against Saddam.

Waiting instead for foreign intervention to topple their dictator for them so they could begin their tribal squabbles to elect a new dictator.

It is painfull to watch the deaths of innocent civilians in any conflict, but with us, or without us, that corner of the world will produce countless thousands of deaths as it always has through history.
Reply:I agree with the quesioner! I think wars are dumb but of course it is in humans nature and cant not be helped.
Reply:I went to see some Iraqi oil workers speak the other night, and unlike Americans who would answer questions by going back a year or two, the Iraqis would always start back several decades with a leader before Saddam that they liked and our government didn't, so we backed Saddam (until '91 anyway). Then they would say how horrible things were on that topic under Saddam--but they would always end with it is worse NOW.

Saddam killed an estimated 100,000 Iraqis in the period between the wars. The British medical journal the Lancet estimates that 600,000 Iraqis have died since the invasion in 2003. So Bush is killing them a hell of a lot faster than Saddam--and he blew out their lights, water, and sewer.

A lot of the people who support the war still believe Bush's lie that Iraq had something to do with 9/11, so the deaths are justified. Others are the type who would go to a pit bull or cock fight or join a lynch mob. They don't care about guilt or innocence, just cruelty and bullying.

Some who oppose the war don't talk about Iraqi casualties because it doesn't occur to them, but most probably don't talk about it for a sadder reason: most Americans do not care, just as they do not care what Iraqis think of the occupation, or how their country is divided into ethnic enclaves, or how much of their oil income ends up in the pockets of big oil companies. I've posted to blogs and discussion boards about a lot of things that get hundreds or even thousands of hits. Anything about the opinions, hardships, or deaths of Iraqis get very few.
Reply:you are correct, there's no getting away from it. the problem with Iraq is they had to much lucrative oil and they paid the penalty for it.
Reply:well I have to admit I only worry about our troops after all they are our boys,It so happens that its mostly Iraqis that are killing them so why on earth should I worry about them.No I don't believe in war and I just wish it would end so our troops can come home and leave that lot to their own devices
Reply:Strange, the stats are readily available

today 75 civilians where blown up in Bagdad its all over the news.

i haven't read the details but it would have been any of the 40 so militias and criminal gangs fighting it out over land, greed and oil.

I think you will find that its a little more complexed out there.
Reply:i think many people are tired of hearing about iraq - so much bloodshed and despair over the resources of the country - oil and the sheer amount of lies, deciet and treachery involved. It's all very sad indeed!
Reply:There is no doubt about it the allied forces conducted an illegal war in Iraq they did not get the authority to embark on this course they acted on intelligence about womd that was wrong i like most decent human beings was glad to see Saddam deposed unfortunately but the the country is in a dire state i see no solution in the near future Britain and America should now leave asap and some sort of multi national peace keeping force installed i think Britain and the USA should be excluded from this body as the hostility is mainly aimed at them its only an idea anyone have a better one
Reply:So saddam should have been left to his own devices???
