The "projects" are where many of the fee waivered people in the United States live. They live in government homes that we pay taxes for. They get free food, and basically a free life. Then why is it that many of them are content living where they are, making no effort to stand on their own feet in life, while enjoying luxuries like Nikes, cable, vacations, etc? Poor people in the country where I come from don't even have clothes. You can see orphaned children digging through alley trash cans, trying to find a peel or a crumb. Here, in the US, people supported by the government eat McD's every day. Why is the US government acting like a crutch for many nondeserving people? It's one thing when a family has lost everything in a disastor, but it's another if some people don't even atempt to get jobs, and live their entire life relying on the government. What are your opinions on government housing and what type of people deserve them?
People who live in government housing?
take a history class. and an economics class. and a political science class. and a sociology class.
every one is a product of their environment and the context of their class, race, religion, ubringinging, gender, etc. just because the u.s. says anyone can become president doesn't make it true. in our society, there a history of dangling possibilities in front of people, but offering them little guidance (or realistic ability) by which to reach them.
(and mcD's is not a luxury. it's killing those people who eat it everyday because healthy food is too expensive or inaccessible.)
Reply:Ms g seems to have covered the bases. I know people who are being helped by those programs. I can tell you that once you get on the program they make it VERY difficult to get off. It's like they are pulling you up with one hand and pushing you down with the other. I feel bad for all the people who are stuck in the cycle and are having a rough time trying to get their lives back together.
