Why do people say that you can meet people at church when most churches are full of old people?

I thought about going to church to meet people, but my church and any church I've ever been to is 70% old people and 30% young families. Why do people say to to church to meet people, when young people don't go to church? I don't have anything against old people, but they're not the kind of company I'm looking for

Why do people say that you can meet people at church when most churches are full of old people?
You need to find another church then.

Call them first and ask to speak to their youth ministers and if they don't have one full time on staff then that ought to be a red flag.

Call around. Work the phone before you visit--ask for a tour.
Reply:People tell young people to go to church to meet people because they want young people to go to church -- a tactic that obviously doesn't work for either the teller or the tellee. Besides that, you're the first young person I ever heard of who paid any attention at all to what people say about meeting people at church. Of course, I realize you're being ironic, and most people -- old or young, church-going or not -- haven't the slightest idea of what irony is. Maybe you should go to a beatnik coffehouse to meet other ironists. Just don't go to Starbucks . . .
Reply:Because your reason for going to church is all wrong. You are to go to hear the Word of God. Then you fellowship and encourage other believers as well as be encouraged by others. You are to be in a ministry with the gifts God gave you to tell a dying world about the love of Christ.Your purpose will meet disaster, crash and burn.

While you are busy in the work of the Lord at church and in your community, he gives you a help-meet to carry out His plans. You don't know who God will put in your path!

All I can tell you is find God's purpose for your life and all these things will be added unto you. God withholds no good thing from us. Seek Him first! Let His Spirit resonate in you so when you find her you will recognize Christ in her heart because He is filled in yours.
Reply:LOL!

I feel for you! Hey, I am 33 years old and I met my wife of 8 years when I was 24. I guess it depends on what religon you are in a big way. I went to a Pentacostal Church while I was in Florida and I got involved in a Christian rock band called Unchanied that was pretty big. I played rythem guitar for them for 2 years before I left but I'll keep to your question.

Many of the younger crowd will be found in Baptist or Non Denominational churches these days. It's amazing how many youth are realy pushing toward God while it seems the vast majority want nothing to do with it when you see the news.

YOu can look up local churches in your area and contact them. Ask to speak with the Pastor and get to know there beleifs and what kind of ministries they have. It's not rude to ask a Pastor about the average age group that attends or show your intrest in wanting to be able to meet people in your age group. You may be shocked when you check out other churches as some are not what many think. The vast majority of people think that church is this boaring place that sucks out all your $$$ and that you have to listen to some monotone guy talk for an hour. I have only been to a church like that once so keep your eyes open. Check out a place called Calvery Chapel. They are a non denominatioal church and these people are very devoted to the Lord. They also seem to have a target of the younger crowd. Many young to late teens, early to late 20's%26amp;30's. They are into teaching the Bible and there style is pretty awsome. Check out there web site just by googleing them and you'll find thier main page. Once there you can get a list of all the locations of ther churches world wide. I hope this helps and please let me know how your search goes.
Reply:i think it depends on a couple things.... your area, your reason for going to church. if you're going just to "meet people" you won't. if you're going to church to get involved with people - you will. i know in our Catholic church there are dozens of groups for young people, married people, old people everything from bible study to support. open your mind to the other avenues within the church!!

God Bless!
Reply:You're not looking beyond what you can see.

Old people have children, quite possibly your age.

You've already met the parents....

Young couples have siblings, and single friends, and if they like you, their opinion can count a lot towards influencing someone to go a first date.

You have to dig through a bit of rock to find the gold.

Stick around, make conversation, you never know what will happen.
Reply:And what's wrong with old people?

They know how.

Reply:Try going to one of the "new age" churches.
Reply:I've found that newer churches...the ones that don't look like churches at all tend to have more younger people, older established churches have the older folks....just my experience.
Reply:My church is 80% old. 19% kids 5 and under 1% kids my age.
